Finnish Blondes have a Reputation for a Reason

I am getting SOOOO excited!!! I should be packing or cleaning or running errands or a million other things I can't even think of right now - but I just had to post these pictures of our little Finnish blonde God Daughter, Pinja. She is one of the many reasons I am getting SOOO excited to go! The last time we saw her was in 2004 and she was just seven months old. Now she is quickly approaching 3!!!! (The picture above is of her at her 1-year birthday party - sent to us by mom.)

This is us at her parents' wedding. And NO! Don't get any ideas and go suggesting that we should become parents. No, we shouldn't.

One of the things we got to do with her last time was to accompany Pinja to her swim class. Aren't they adorable?!? You should have seen&heard Bruce singing along to a Finnish children's song to help the kids "splish splash"! He was the only man there! I do have to admit that moment made my uterus ache just a little bit......

I can't wait to see her again and get to know her just a little bit. She sounds like she has grown into a very strong-minded young lady! We've had a tradition (OK, so it isn't a long tradition - she's only 2.5 years old!) of exchanging art work with her on birthdays. (One day I look forward to framing all her things and giving them back to her - maybe when/if she gets married.) So, I also plan to pack a few of my art supplies and spend some time creating touch drawings together with her (after all, it is just another form of finger painting!). I will share with you later all the things we create together!

Until then, be well my friends. I will miss checking in daily - but I'll try to steal a moment here and there to say hi! And I'll be back home July 28th!

Haera ra,
Tia

I absolutely LOVE that picture of the pool hon! And yes... Finnish blondes DO have a reputation! Looking forward to "getting away" from this country for a little bit - wish it was longer! You may have to take me to the airport in Helsinki kicking and screaming. i already know I don't want a return ticket!

I already said it, but have an amazing time. I will miss you both!! I LOVE her car, and I wish I had my own! I even like the pinkness of it. Please tell her she has the coolest car I've ever seen.

Hi Tia - good to finally meet you as well! You know what to take pictures of while you are there :-)

Happy travelling hon. I always love to see my three year old niece swimming as well - she's a fish I swear. No fear at all - she swims right out to the deep end!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for coming by! I miss you! Yes, I actually meant I got my citizenship within the last year (not quite a year ago), but it was actually in 2005. We do have a lot in common, eh? (I'm from Canada, eh? - the first usage is how I would say it, but the Canada, eh? is just for show - it would actually never be said). I'm so glad that we can bitch, uh, I mean blog, together!
I can't wait to hear more about your trip!

I hope that you are enjoying your vacation. I just had to share this with you. You introduced Mandala's on your blog..and it intriqued me. I like them as comtemplative works of art..and on the Creativity Portal website, they now have a tutorial which I am going to explore. Thank you so much for exposing this intriquing area of self-expression on your blog.
