Windy Wellington

I'm at an internet cafe on my way out to eat and wanted to say "hi". The trip to Wellington has been good. Today I finally had beautiful weather (it had been POURING RAIN for two days - nonstop), and I took full advantage of it by spending the day in the Otari-Wilton Bush. Wonderful trails and spectacular views within a few kilometers of the city center! I hiked for about four hours. Sorry I can't post the images yet, I don't have the cable for my camera along for the trip. Later though.

It might be the fact that it is finally not raining, or the fact that I got to go out onto a trail, or maybe just the city itself, but today I felt like we could enjoy living here. Wellington is beautiful. There are people (other than tourists) walking the streets, drivers are curteous(!), there are cafes, pubs, museums, arts, the ocean, the mountains, and the knowledge that the South Island is just a ferry ride away.... It isn't a huge city, but it's got spunk. The roads are CRAZY! In a very sick way, I am enjoying driving them - it's a good challenge. Thank God for automatics though!!!

The drive here would have been beautiful had I not sat in a perpetual cloud of rain. Hopefully on my way home tomorrow the Desert Road will be sunny... I'd love to see the views. There was a sign for wild horses crossing the road at one point...... I think I might take off into the desert it I got to see that!!

Anyway - just a quick hi - I'm almost out of time here. Be well my friends! I hope to be online soon.

Tia, I can't wait to see your photos and hear more about your trip. BTW, Jack Palance was in City Slickers 1 and 2 with Billy Crystal. His art was impressioinistic and he was a writer. I could sense new hope in your words....onward and upward dear heart.

Hope you get to see the mountains from the Desert Road - despite the signs I have never once actually seen the wild horses. I think they keep away from the road - and you hae to be careful where you take off into the desert given the army presence in the area! Fortunately there are signs to tell you where not to leave the road.
do check out Christchurch if you get the chance, we have cafes, pubs, museums, arts etc too although the harbour is on the other side of the hill so it's not quite like Wellington - but beutiful in it's own way. And the streets are more gridlike and a little less crazy.
It's been raining here all weekend too (it was a long weekend down here) and now that I have to go back to work it is fine and sunny

"Now that I have to go back to work it is fine and sunny" isn't that always the case, Catherine?

Seriously, glad you had some good weather in Wellington, Tia.

Helloooooo!!! "Wild Horses they can't drag me away..." That is what I sang in my head, but I don't even know who sings it. I'm glad you liked it too.
Hugs.
